Frequently Asked Questions
Real questions from real timber import inquiries, grouped by what they’re actually about. If yours isn’t covered, ask directly.
Ordering & Minimums
Do you sell only full containers, or smaller quantities too?
Both. We quote full container loads (FCL) for volume buyers and consolidate smaller LCL orders where the species and timing allow. Tell us the volume you need and we'll say plainly whether it works as a standalone shipment or needs consolidating with another order.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
It depends on the species. Fast-moving species like Ayous and Sapele can often be quoted in smaller LCL volumes. Denser or lower-volume species like Bubinga usually need a fuller load to make the logistics work. Ask and we'll tell you the practical minimum for the species you want.
How fast can you turn around a quote?
Species with consistent stock (Sapele, Padauk, Iroko, Doussié, Ayous, Sipo) are usually quoted within a few business days. Less common species may take longer while we confirm availability with a concession or sawmill.
Shipping & Logistics
What's the difference between FOB and CIF pricing?
FOB (Free On Board) covers the timber and loading at the Port of Douala; you arrange and pay for ocean freight from there. CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) includes freight and insurance through to your destination port.
Which ports do you ship to?
From the Port of Douala, we ship directly to major ports across Asia (including China and Vietnam) and Europe (including Antwerp, Rotterdam and Hamburg). Ask about your specific destination if it isn't listed.
How long does shipping take?
Transit time depends on the destination port and shipping line schedule. We'll give you an estimated transit time alongside your quote once we know the destination.
Documentation & Compliance
What documentation comes with each shipment?
Certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading as standard. EUDR-ready due-diligence files are prepared on request for EU-bound orders.
Are you FLEGT licensed?
No, and we won't tell you we are. FLEGT licensing was never fully operational in Cameroon, and the EU-Cameroon FLEGT partnership was formally terminated in 2025. What we provide instead is full legal documentation and chain-of-custody records for every shipment, plus geolocation and due-diligence data to support your own EUDR compliance checks.
What is a chain-of-custody certificate?
It's the paper trail that traces timber from the forest concession where it was harvested through processing to export, so a buyer can verify the wood wasn't substituted or mixed with unverified sources along the way. We keep this documentation for every lot we sell.
Can you provide documents for EUDR due diligence?
Yes. We prepare geolocation data and legality documentation for EU-bound shipments so your import team has what it needs for due-diligence filing. Ask for this when you request a quote for European delivery.
Species & Grading
What's the difference between kiln-dried and air-dried timber?
Kiln-dried (KD) timber has its moisture content brought down to a target range in a kiln, which is standard for European flooring and joinery orders. Air-dried (AD) timber dries naturally over time and is common for structural or construction-grade orders. We'll recommend the right spec once you tell us the end use.
What does FAS/1C grading mean?
FAS/1C is a top export grade requiring a minimum percentage of clear, defect-free cuttings on both faces of the board. It's the grade we hold as standard for most species in the catalogue, structural species like Azobé are graded differently, for strength and dimension rather than face appearance.
Can you source a species that isn't on your catalogue page?
Often, yes. Our species page covers what we keep in regular rotation, but we work with concessions and sawmills across several of Cameroon's timber-producing regions. Ask about a specific species and we'll confirm whether it's available.
